I am wondering if any of you out there know what kind of frogs we have?
We have two kinds (at least) that I can see....
These are tiny little guys. They look like leopard frogs to me. (and if they are, those are currently endangered so I would have to let them go free right away soon...and in a specific place)
These guys are flatter, little bigger, and look like toads. They have a few red-ish spots on their back.
What do you think? Has anyone got great websites to check out? (and hopefully pass on...) Or is anyone a super smart wetlands scientist?! Any help would be awesome. (I especially want to make sure I release them in the right environment for what they are...and in the best possible way)
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

4 Legged Frogs
We have been growing frogs. Did you know?!
My friend called and said she had been out to a farm. In a huge "pothole" (Pond type puddle formed from rain and runoff) there were thousands of tadpoles. So she scooped up a bucketful and brought them home. Then she shared! :)
Here is what they look like up close:
Ok...maybe I am a huge geek (and we all know I am!) but I am fascinated with these little critters! I took MANY pictures of them...and I have been documenting their progress. (I even have a special folder called "Tadpole to Frog '10)
So, pretty soon they started growing back legs...I was not sure if they were legs or not because really...it looks like poop. So I was brave and picked up one with the longest poop looking things hanging off the back. I was pleasantly surprised it was not poop but legs! Check them out...
Tiny little legs. (not big enough to eat yet)
So then this morning we went out to see them. (and by we I mean me!) And there was a little critter with 4 legs!
You just have to believe me...there is 4. I will get a better pic later. K was my photographer and used my camera...he was a bit unsure. So this little guy is looking quite frog-like. He is getting better formed and quite handsome, still has a wicked tail going on though! :)
While we were searching for him again (I of course had to yell for the boys to come check it out...) I found several of these little guys...
3 legs! Who knew that they grew them at different times?! I tried to get him flipped over but he was stinking quick...but there is a little leg like thing moving around under the skin. Weird!
Anyway, thought I would share our super cool pets! (there may be more frog related posts later!)
Cheers
